I was born in Gulu, Uganda, where I lived with my parents until my father developed a mental illness and left our family. My mother struggled to provide for us, and life became very difficult. During the war in our area, I experienced abuse that left me physically and emotionally wounded. When my aunt learned about my situation, she asked my mother to send me to Kampala. I was welcomed at AGLOM Children’s Home, where I received the medical treatment, surgery, and care I desperately needed. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I continued learning through home lessons organized by the children’s home. When schools reopened, I enrolled in Primary Three because I had missed several years of education.<\/p>

My mother still struggles to support my siblings, who remain in the village without school fees. I am grateful that AGLOM Children’s Home connected me with a sponsor who has made it possible for me to receive an education and meet my basic needs. Today, I am the only child in my family attending school and I am currently in Primary Four. My dream is to become a doctor so that I can help children facing the same hardships I experienced. I thank AGLOM Children’s Home for giving me hope, education, food, shelter, medical care, and the opportunity to build a brighter future.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\r\n\t\t

I grew up with my parents (both my father and mother), but when I turned 3 years old, my mother divorced my father and left me with him. I lived with my father in a rental house of one room, and my father would leave me home alone whenever he was going for work. Whenever I would feel hungry, I would go to our neighbors and ask them to give me food as I waited for my father to return home with food. When I approached the school going age, my father took me to the nearest nursery school, but I could not focus well due to what I was going through.<\/p>

My father began to abuse me, and since I lacked a mother or any other relative, I had no one to share it with. My father was a car washer and would leave very early in the morning and come back very late in the evening. Sometimes, he would take alcohol and come back home drunk. When I reached 4 years old, my father started defiling me. One day I decided to share this information with our neighbor. I told her how my father would abuse me when he was drunk.<\/p>

The neighbor told me, \u201cWhen you see your father asleep, escape and come to my home,\u201d and I did so. When my father was sleeping, I escaped and went to the neighbor who took me to a counselor. The counselor took me for a medical checkup and found out that truly I was being abused, and she decided to take the matter to the police who came to my rescue. The police placed my father into custody, but after a small period of time, he was released.<\/p>

The police decided to take me to\u00a0AGLOM Children\u2019s Home<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>where I was able to get a better family that takes care of me and also supports my education. I am very happy to be here at\u00a0AGLOM<\/strong>\u00a0Children\u2019s Home\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>because I am able to get all my needs met including shelter, food, education and many other things. There are many aunties here whom I share with whenever I am going through any challenge.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\r\n\t\t
